  • General
    • Is WBC 2020 still occurring?
      Yes, and WBC is committed to your health, safety, and well-being. We're adding virtual options to our in-person meeting to ensure that valuable WBC 2020 content can be accessed by all registrants and presented by all speakers regardless of their ability to travel to Minneapolis in August. Stay tuned for details!

    • Will there be an option to attend WBC 2020 virtually?
      Yes, there will be a virtual registration and program options for attendees. More information will be posted to worldbrewingcongress.org once details are finalized.
  • Program
    • Do I need to be registered for WBC 2020 to present my abstract?
      Yes, you must be registered as either an in-person or virtual meeting attendee. Visit worldbrewingcongress.org for updates on key registration dates.

    • If I can't attend WBC 2020 in person, will there be options for me to present?
      Yes, there will be virtual presentation options for all registered presenters. Visit worldbrewingcongress.org for updates on presenter information and resources

    • If I am unable to attend in-person, and instead present my abstract via the virtual option, will my abstract still be published?
      All registered presenters (in-person or virtual) will have their abstracts published.

    • I'm an oral presenter of either a workshop, special, or technical session. Can I prerecord my presentation instead of presenting onsite?
      Yes. WBC will provide more information to registered speakers on how to prerecord and upload their presentations prior to the start of WBC 2020. These instructions will come from WBC 2020 Headquarters.

    • ​I want to prerecord my presentation, but don't know how to get started.
      WBC 2020 is currently creating a best practices toolkit on how to prerecord and upload your presentation. This information will be shared with all registered presenters in the coming weeks through speaker email communications and posted to the WBC 2020 website.

    • Will my name still be published if someone else gives my presentation onsite in Minneapolis?
      Yes, but you will be listed as the co-author. The individual giving the talk will be listed as the presenting author.

    • Will all sessions, speakers, and workshops at WBC 2020 be offered virtually?
      The virtual program is currently under development. More information will be published soon on the WBC 2020 website.
  • Registration
    • I have registered to attend WBC 2020 in-person, but can no longer physically attend due to federal, state, or my company-imposed COVID-19 travel restrictions. What are my options?
      You have two options available. You may request one of the following for the registration fees you paid as an in-person attendee:
      • Convert your in-person registration to the virtual registration option so you can still attend this valuable event (you will be refunded the difference in registration cost).
      • Request a full refund of your registration fees and opt out of all virtual content.

    • If the in-person component of WBC 2020 is cancelled, what happens to my registration?
      For your convenience, your in-person registration will automatically be transferred to the virtual registration option and you will be refunded the difference in registration fees.

    • I registered for WBC 2020 with Registration PLUS. If the in-person meetings is cancelled, what happens to the registration and membership dollars I paid?
      We process the meeting registration and membership dollars separately. For your convenience, your in-person registration will automatically be transferred to the virtual registration options and you will be refunded the difference in registrations fees.
      Fortunately, the membership portion of your Registration PLUS fee will still be directly applied toward your new or renewed ASBC or Master Brewers membership, ensuring your still get an entire 12 months of member benefits!   • Sponsorship and Exhibits
    • What happens to the sponsorship dollars my company gave if the in-person WBC 2020 is cancelled?
      We are happy to work with each company directly with their available options. Sponsors can reach out to Brianna Plank at wbc@scisoc.org

    • Can I get reimbursed for my WBC 2020 exhibit booth if I can't staff the booth due to national, state, or company-imposed travel restrictions?
      Please contact Brianna Plank directly at wbc@scisoc.org, who will gladly review all exhibitor options.
  • Hotel/Travel
    • If the in-person component of WBC 2020 is cancelled, what will happen to my hotel/housing reservation?
      Cancellations of any hotel/housing reservations for WBC 2020 are the responsibility of the individual on the reservation and must be made directly with the hotel/property and in accordance with their cancellation policy.

    • If in-person WBC 2020 is cancelled, does WBC reimburse me for my travel expenses (i.e., airfare, rental car fees, visa fees)?
      WBC is not liable for any travel expenses incurred, which include, but are not limited to, nonrefundable airfares or ticket change penalties imposed by the airlines, rental car fees/cancellation fees, visa fees, etc. Please speak directly with your travel vendors, as they may have their own reimbursement options for you.
      While there are currently no federal restrictions in place to prevent meetings or travel within the United States, we recommend that you refrain from booking non-refundable travel at this time. Please refer to the CDC and World Health Organization websites for the most up-to-date information on COVID-19.
  • Onsite
    • What safety measures will be taken onsite to help ensure the safety and health of WBC 2020 attendees, speakers, and exhibitors?
      WBC is taking all reasonable precautions and following all recommended guidelines to protect your health and well-being. We will be working with the staff of the Minneapolis Convention Center and the Hilton Minneapolis to provide the following onsite safety precautions:
      • Increased cleaning and disinfection programs across all high-volume touchpoints (e.g. catering areas, surfaces, handrails, entrances/exits, pu​blic touch-screens etc.) along with the use of correct cleaning/sanitizing materials and products.
      • Onsite medical support to assist anyone who becomes unwell.
      • Awareness via online and onsite info-share and signage
      • Availability of sanitizing and disinfection materials for public use
      • Awareness and training to all onsite staff on standard personal preventative measures (e.g. personal hygiene, frequency of use of sanitizing/disinfection products, etc.)
      • Advice to exhibitors on implementing effective cleaning and disinfection of booths along with guidance on personal hygiene measures and common preventive behavior.
      • Signage onsite reminding attendees of hygiene recommendations.
      • More distancing between attendees, exhibitors, and staff.

      As a reminder, WBC, their employees, officers, and volunteers are not liable for any claims that result in any injury, illness, or economic loss resulting from your participation in this event, travel to and from the event (including air travel), or any events incidental to your participation.
